"When you play with fire, you get burned."

Those were the ominous words spoken by JBL when SmackDown kicked off from Albuquerque, NM. But no one knew just how ominous those words would turn out to be.

JBL has made it his mission to put World Champion Rey Mysterio through hell in the weeks leading up to their Championship match this Sunday at Judgment Day. Mysterio said that he will take on all comers, so JBL has made him eat his words. JBL has fed Mysterio to Mark Henry and the Great Khali the last two weeks, but he said those challenges would be nothing compared to what he had in store for his “amigo” just two days before Judgment Day, and boy was he right. The surprise opponent was none other than the deranged Kane.

Money Shot
May 15, 2006

It was time to play The Game at Texas Tech University, but in the end, it was Triple H

who came out on the losing end of the equation.

In the main event, Shawn Michaels took on Kenny of the Spirit Squad. Shane McMahon

was appointed as the referee, and on orders of Mr. McMahon, Triple H was in Kenny’s

corner. The WWE Chairman apparently had a plan, even giving The Game a

sledgehammer to use “if the opportunity should arise.”

With Shane as the referee and Triple H in Kenny’s corner, the deck seemed stacked

against Michaels. Indeed, it was, as Shane conveniently lost his belt during the match and

ignored Kenny’s assault on HBK with it. Michaels would get the best of the situation,

however, sending Shane running from the ring after whipping him with the belt. HBK then

nailed Kenny with Sweet Chin Music, but Shane ran back in to attack his arch-enemy.

With HBK in a compromising position, Shane called The Game into the ring. Triple H

lifted the sledgehammer, and as the Chairman’s son held a quivering Michaels, The Game

prepared to crush his former partner’s face with the weapon. Instead, Michaels moved,

and Shane took the brunt of the punishing blow. Triple H was shocked at his actions, and

as Mr. McMahon ran to the ring to comfort his fallen son, The Game explained that it was

an accident. He then backed slowly up the ramp as the show went off the air, maintaining

that he never intended to hit Shane. It was the perfect cap to an already bad RAW for

The Game. (cooool beans)

At Judgment Day, two champions collide for the biggest prize on SmackDown when Rey

Mysterio defends the World Heavyweight Championship against the current United States

Champion, JBL.

On the April 21 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, JBL challenged the winner of the

following week’s World Heavyweight Championship match between Mysterio and Kurt

Angle. After badmouthing both men, however, he was on the receiving end of a 619. The

following week, Mysterio somehow survived his championship match with Angle, as

Mark Henry inexplicably interrupted the match as Rey was a half-second away from

tapping out to the Ankle Lock.  With Mysterio still the champion following Friday Night

SmackDown, the official announcement of the match for Judgment Day was made on

WWE.com on April 29.

On the May 5 SmackDown, however, Rey told JBL that he would fight anyone at any

time. JBL used that opportunity to goad Rey into a match with Mark Henry, which saw

the World Champion get pinned by the World's Strongest Man. After the loss, JBL told

Mysterio that if he was still a man of his word, he would take on the 7 foot 3, 420-pound

Great Khali on May 12.

When May 12 rolled around, Rey kept his word. But in his hometown of San Diego,

Mysterio was again the loser, getting destroyed by the massive Khali. After the match,

JBL told the World Champion that he would have to wait and see who his opponent will

be on May 19.

Can Mysterio survive and make it to Judgment Day? And if he does, will keep his dream

alive once again on May 21, or will JBL walk out of Phoenix with two championships?

Find out at Judgment Day.

Tragic Homecoming

May 12, 2006

In front of his friends, family and a hometown crowd in San Diego, Rey Mysterio proved he was a man of his word…but all he got to show for it was a beating.

After sending Mark Henry after the World Champion last week, JBL lined up The Great Khali as Rey’s opponent. As the night began, the United States Champion came to the ring, ripping on the southern California fans. He laughed at Rey’s loss to Henry last week, and said the underdog champion had more heart than brains. JBL’s comments then took a disgusting turn, as he began to insult Mysterio’s family. He said that after he defeated the “third amigo” at Judgment Day, he would let Rey’s son Dominick shine his shoes, and allow Rey’s wife to work in his kitchen in a short dress and high heels. To stay gainfully employed, however, JBL said that Rey would have to sell drugs or do drive-by shootings like his homies. The World Champion finally had enough at that point, storming out of the back to attack JBL. Referees were able to separate the two, but that would end up being the highlight of Rey’s night.
